Downtown Glenview is the subject of a Village Board of Trustees workshop scheduled at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at Village Hall, 1225 Waukegan Road. Preview the power point and background documents here.
U.S. Equities, the board's development advisory team, will present findings from its review of applicable codes and regulations governing downtown. The team will also suggest options for ways to ensure the regulatory environment supports the redevelopment and reuse of downtown properties.
The presentation will include a review of current code prohibitions that could help create a more dynamic downtown that attracts additional shoppers and visitors. Specifically, the team will offer suggestions that would allow for:
service-related uses on ground floors. Particular uses which generate frequent visits, such as fitness operations, fine arts schools and personal care studios, can be complementary to the downtown environment and supportive of nearby retail; and
drive-through facilities as special uses, when ancillary to retail uses such as coffee shops, pharmacies, banks and quick-service restaurants.
The presentation will also include a brief review of existing infrastructure conditions, particularly on-street parking.
