Project description

Work includes:

  • installation of a 5-acre foot underground detention chamber under the south field at Lyon School and a portion of the school parking lot
  • installation of larger diameter storm sewer pipes under neighborhood streets leading to the detention vault, with new inlets at the lowest pointin the watershed
  • reconfiguration of the Lyon School parking lot to provide water quality benefits to the stormwater runoff before it leaves the site and better traffic flow for buses and passenger vehicles.

The Village Board of Trustees on October 18, 2016 voted to enter into an easement agreement with Glenview School District 34 to move forward this flood relief project aimed at addressing historic flooding issues in the Bonnie Glen neighborhood and on the Lyon School grounds.

The Village Board of Trustees on December 6, 2016 preliminarily approved zoning variations and preliminarily granted conditional use, final site plan review and preliminary subdivision to allow for the construction of an underground stormwater detention vault and parking lot expansion at Lyon School, 1335 Waukegan Road. Final consideration is scheduled January 10, 2017.
