Actions:
- Presented a proclamation in recognition of Nancy Bloom, who is retiring as executive director of Youth Services of Glenview-Northbrook after 24 years.
- Appointed Trustees Scott Britton and Mike Jenny to the Emergency Telephone Safety Board
- Swore in Jeff Heany as chairman of the Building Commission
- Preliminarily approved temporary traffic ordinances to facilitate the Glenview Chamber of Commerce annual Glenview Summer Festival on June 29. The festival requires the closure of Harlem/Lehigh avenue from Glenview Road to Washington street from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m.; parking restrictions on roadways surrounding the festival to enhance the safe flow of vehicle and pedestrian traffic; and restrictions on animals and bicycle and roller skate traffic for the safety of participants.
- Preliminarily approved temporary traffic ordinances to facilitate the Independence Day parade and twilight fireworks show on July 4. Glenview Road, Harlem Avenue and Central Road will be closed at various points for the parade, while the twilight fireworks show requires the temporary closure of a portion of Shermer Road and Central Road. Parking restrictions on roadways surrounding those events are also required to enhance the safe flow of vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
- Approved a permit application for a fireworks display at the Glenview Park Golf Club, 800 Shermer Road, for the July 4 twilight fireworks show.
- Approved a site plan and conditional use to allow for the construction of four new training props at the Northern Illinois Public Safety Training Academy, 2300 Patriot Blvd., and a “Solar Tree” to power accessory items related to the props.
- Gave final approval to a plat of vacation of the west 27 feet of unimproved Village right-of-way within Steffens Lane between Huckleberry Lane and Cole Park.
- Approved a permit application for a fireworks display on July 3 at Valley Lo Club, 2200 Tanglewood Drive.
Approved a plat of subdivision for eight lots of record and two outlots at 3800 Willow Road. The subdivision is required in connection with the previously approved GlenStar development.
- Authorized a contract for $45,900 with New World Systems of Troy, Mich. To purchase mobile field reporting implementation service for the Police and Fire departments.
- Approved a brokerage and development advisory services agreement with U.S. Equities LLC for $121,800 to facilitate the sales of two Village-owned properties in the downtown area: the fire station at 1815 Glenview Road and the former Dominick’s store site at 1020 Waukegan Road.
- Waived the Village’s competitive bidding requirements and awarded a $114,330 contract to Orange Crush LLC of Hillside to supply permanent roadway patch from its Skokie and Wheeling facilities, so that it remains hot and usable.
