Be a Part of the Village's Heritage Tree Program!
Glenview is indeed fortunate to be graced with so many trees. To highlight this part of our “Green Infrastructure” the Village last year established a Heritage Tree Registry to document the largest, most impressive trees here in town. Early in 2008, the Village announced that 65 trees nominated by residents would be “inducted” into the Registry. The top three (based on a formula that takes into account height, tree canopy, diameter at breast height, and circumference) were:
- 51-Foot Box Elder: diameter at breast height 64 inches; owned by Tom Rueckert, 410 Huber Lane
- 83-Foot American Elm: diameter at breast height 53.5 inches; owned by Dave and Kate May, 715 Wagner Road
- 68-Foot American Elm: diameter at breast height: 57 inches; Ron Mori Family, 400 Wilmette Road.
