Glen Residents: Be a Part of the TIF District Census!
Thanks to all those who participated in this year's Census! Here are the 2010 Results.
Take the census on line.
Residents living in The Glen area will receive a letter shortly encouraging them to participate in the Tax Increment Financing District (TIF) Census that will be conducted in the area this summer.
The TIF District Census is conducted every year in the Glen (or, more specifically, the TIF District) by the Village in order to help determine the level of “Make Whole” payments the TIF Fund distributes to the local institutions that serve the area as it grows.
While the TIF District is in place, these “core jurisdictions” – School Districts 30, 34, and 225; the Glenview Public Library, the Glenview Park District, and the Village do not receive the revenue from property taxes generated within the TIF District. To help offset their growing costs, the Fund provides these institutions with “make whole” payments annually, based on the number of new residents they are serving.
The Village has again retained Ehlers & Associates, Inc. to perform the census. A letter will be sent on June 1st along with a copy of the census survey form and a self-addressed, stamped envelope for its return to Ehlers & Associates. The form should be filled out and returned by July 1st to avoid a census-taker coming to the household.
The census-takers will be making door-to-door visits on Saturday, Sunday and possible weekday evenings beginning Saturday, July 10th, and ending Sunday, July 25th, to visit homes that have not replied to the survey.
The only census information that is needed is the address, name of subdivision, adult/child count, and school program data. Resident’s name, social security number, or telephone number is not required. Replies received after August 1st, will not be included in the census.
