CONCEPT PLANNING FOR THE NAVY DISPOSITION PARCEL

The Concept Plan for the Navy Disposition Parcel

The Village plans to take possession of just over 41 acres of land located west of Shermer Road and just north of West Lake Avenue, adding it to 3 acres of adjacent Village-owned land. To help decide how best to make use of this parcel, the Village has established a multi-jurisdictional committee charged with working through a land reuse process.

Vision Workshop

The concept planning process has been carefully designed to involve the community from beginning to end. Citizen participation is vital to developing the Plan for the Navy Disposition Parcel. Several 'community outreach' components have been created to involve residents and members of the community. Interviews, workshops, and meetings/presentations are being used to engage the public throughout the planning process.

The first meeting with the public will be a Vision Workshop at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9th, 2007 at the Village of Glenview Police Station Community Meeting Room. The purpose of the Workshop will be to create a Vision for the parcel which will be used to develop preliminary Goals and Objectives for the Navy Disposition Parcel.

What's Next

The new Concept Plan for the Navy Disposition Parcel should be completed by July 2007. The next step of the planning process is the creation of a Vision Statement and Goals and Objectives. Please check the Village's website for upcoming Workshop and meeting dates.
