The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) has programmed the resurfacing of Waukegan Road for 2011, and will design the work in 2010. The project goals are two-fold: to provide a short and long-term transportation plan with comprehensive solutions for this section of the Village. In the short term and prior to IDOT’s resurfacing design work, guidance on context sensitive solutions which incorporate the Village’s recommendations would be given to IDOT. In the long term, the Village would have policy and implementation recommendations on how to manage anticipated traffic impacts on the community and surrounding neighborhoods and integrate redevelopments along the corridor. In February, Village President Kerry Cummings appointed the Waukegan Road Committee to help guide and coordinate the project.
