Citizens Police Academy Kicks Off in January 2011
Want to learn more about the Glenview’s Police Department? Interested in law enforcement? Consider joining our Citizen Police Academy 6, starting Thursday, January 13, 2011, the Academy meets every other Thursday from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. through May 19.
Topics covered include:
- The backbone of the Department - Patrol function and responsibilities.
- How the Glenview Public Safety Dispatch Center works
- Handling traffic issues -- from speeding to accidents.
- Investigations Unit operations and functions
- Role of the School Resource Officers
- Police training (including a chance to try out a police duty pistol on the range)
- Evidence collection
- How an arrest unfolds from the street to the courtroom
- Where all the information goes when an officer takes a report
Participation costs nothing but your time! However, enrollment limited to 30 participants; complete and submit the application and waiver forms, available at the below links, to reserve a spot.
