Officer Friendly Program
The Officer Friendly program began in 1960 by the Sears-Roebuck Foundation. The Glenview Police Department started its Officer Friendly program in 1975. The objective of the visits are to teach children safety skills and to interact with children in a positive setting. In the classrooms, children learn that Officers are people too and they get the chance to spend individual time with them.Children learn that police officers are indeed their friend and they can seek assistance without fear from a uniformed police officer. If you are interested in inviting Officer Friendly to your school, contact the Police Department at the number on this page.
