Lake Glenview, September 2001

Lake Glenview

The 45-acre combined recreational lake and storm water detention facility includes a fishing pier, five islands, two bays, and a peninsula with a lookout tower.  Two stone footbridges connect walking and biking trails around the lake.  One connects to an island and the other continues toward Park Center.  The shoreline is planted with wetland and wet prairie vegetation to increase water quality and reduce shoreline erosion.  The lake is managed as a sport fishery in cooperation with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.  Fishing is allowed on a catch and release basis.  For more information on fishing and recreation, click here.
