The Village of Glenview (pop. 46,740) seeks an innovative and energetic professional to assist the Community Development Department with managing private and public development projects.
This position will be assigned to public improvement and private development projects. This position will assist with performing inspections of public improvements including capital project planning, and design assistance for streets, sidewalks, sewers, water supply, and landscaping; enforcing standards and ensuring compliance with plans and specifications; reading and reviewing construction drawings and management of the pavement system for village streets. This position will perform plan reviews and inspections of single family homes, single family home construction, commercial/industrial properties, and properties within the flood plain. This position will also complete permit review for small construction permits, utility permits and other miscellaneous permits by referring to Village codes, ordinances, and policies. It is expected that the individual in this position works effectively as a liaison between contactors, the village and residents.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Qualified candidates will have a bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or closely-related field; or two to four years related experience and/ or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of one to three years of related work experience, which includes applicable internships. Relevant work experience includes engineering work in plan review and requests for permitting, reviewing plans and documents, and coordinating development review. Candidates should possess effective and courteous communication (both written and oral) and interpersonal skills when interacting with various team members. The ability to provide timely, professional customer service to both internal and external stakeholders is required. The successful candidate must also be able to independently plan and organize tasks, exhibit keeping skills and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office. This position is required to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions, as necessary.
This position requires a valid driver's license and the ability to work Monday – Friday, generally 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
SALARY/HOW TO APPLY:
The starting salary is $60,000 DOQ, with an excellent fringe benefit package.
