Village President's Report

  • Recognition of State Representative Elaine Nekritz for her assistance in securing more than $450,000 in state funding for two projects: resurfacing of Glenview Road between Milwaukee Avenue and Elmdale and construction of a new salt storage facility.
  • Recognition of the Waukegan Road Corridor Committee.

Village Manager's Report

  • Update on plowing operations during current snow storm. Crews began salting at 4:30 a.m. and at this time have plowed the entire community once. Currently, they are back out clearing main arterials and salting intersections; they will remain out on the roadways until the snow subsides and will salt again at that point.

Approved

  • Environmental plan and conditional use ordinance for the Glenview Park District's construction of a carriage house and pavilion at the Grove - 1421 Milwaukee Avenue.
  • Twenty-five percent reduction in fees for certain types of permits relating to single family home improvements between January 9 and March 31.
  • Voluntary annexation ordinance for 3260 Brookdale Lane.
  • Illinois Department of Transportation resolution authorizing expenditure of $1,250,000 in Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) Funds for the Village's 2010 Road Resurfacing and Minor Area Repair Strategy (MARS) Program.
  • Participation in the Northern Illinois Electricity Cooperative one-year bid for supplying electricity to the Village's water pumping stations.
  • Contract and bid awards for:
    • MUNIS consulting services to Baecore Group (included waiver of competitive bidding process). Budget: $134,000.
    • Administration of a 457 retirement plan for members of the Glenview Professional Firefighters Association, Local 4186, I.A.F.F. to Nationwide Retirement Solutions, Inc. There will be no cost to the Village.
    • Lobbyist services in 2010 to Cullen and Associates. Budget: $52,800.
    • Tree trimming services for the Village of Glenview and Wilmette to Winkler's Tree and Landscaping, Inc. Three-year contract. Budget: $135,000. Cost to Glenview in 2010 will be $45,000. This contract will result in annual savings of $15,000 to the Village - while increasing the number of trees trimmed by 800.
  • Agreement for a 20-year $820,132 loan from the Water Pollution Control Program through the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency for the Reach 1 Habitat Improvement Project (along the river form Willow south to the Techny Basin Spillway). Due to American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funding, repayment of 25 percent of this loan will be waived; the remaining 75 percent of the loan carries no interest.
  • Extension to January 20 of expiration of the rezoning application period for Meier's Tavern, 235 East Lake Avenue.

First Consideration

  • Declaration of a range computer and related equipment as surplus as part of the Village's regular "refreshment cycle" for computers and servers.
  • Purchase of 18 replacement patrol rifles from Shore Galleries.
  • Final site plan for Gulliver's, 420 West Lake Avenue.
  • Conditional uses (B-3 uses in a B-2 district) for:
    • 1822 Pickwick Lane - North Shore Auto Detail. Auto detailing business.
    • 2528 Waukegan Road - Pinocchio's Pizza. Dine-in, carry out, delivery service.
    • 1629 Waukegan Road - Sarpino's. Take-out and delivery service.
  • "No parking here to corner" restriction at the driveway entrances to Glenview Gardens Condominiums, 2112 Rugen Road.
