Village President's Report:

  • President Cummings recognized the Glenview Police Department for its fine work over the past year, noting that crime fell by five percent in 2007.
  • On Thursday, March 13 at 7 p.m. the Board will be holding a workshop to review fees the Village charges for various services and permits.

Approved:

  • Conditional use ordinance for Fire Station #7, 3507 Glenview Road. A Public Hearing was held on this matter.
  • Contract Awards:
    • Fuel for the Village's Fleet Operations to Gas Depot Oil Company (via the Northwest Municipal Conference's Suburban Purchasing Cooperative). Budget: $425,000.

  • Reimbursement to the Glenview Park District of final costs associated with the creation of wetlands at The Grove. In 2005 the Village received a Federal permit to place a car dealership on low-grade wetlands just north of Willow Road at the intersection with Patriot. To mitigate this loss, the Village signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Park District to create new wetlands at The Grove. This work is now completed, and the Village will be reimburse the Park District for the final portion of the associated costs. Reimbursement amount: $33,981.
  • Amendment to contract with Mauro Sewer Construction, Inc. for Robin Drive/Dempster Street Infrastructure Improvement Project to account for situations not anticipated in the original scope of work which require immediate remediation. Extra cost: $10,769.
  • Class D Liquor License (allows for the retail sale of alcohol by clubs for consumption where sold) for Sybaris Clubs International, Inc., 3350 Milwaukee Avenue.

First Consideration

  • New Ordinance which would establish permit fees for the movement of overweight/oversize trucks through the Village. State Law permits local jurisdictions to charge such fees to compensate in part for the extra wear and tear placed on local roads by these trucks. Permit fees would range from $25 to $160 depending on the vehicle weight, the number of axles, and whether or not the trips are one-way or round trip.
