President's Report

  • Award presentation to winners of the 2010 CHARACTER COUNTS! Essay Contest.
  • Swearing in of Fire Department staff due to recent promotions: Battalion Chief Anthony Angus, Battalion Chief Steve Precht, Lieutenant James Meyer, Lieutenant Charles DiPrima
  • Report on the proposed Ace Hardware and Pebble Creek curb-cut plan, part of the Village's curb cut consolidation plan for Waukegan Road. The majority of the Board felt that the curb-cut should be on Pebble Creek, but further to the east than originally proposed by staff.

Village Manager's Report

  • Update on Patriot/Independence intersection. Although plans had called for installation of a traffic signal at this intersection, traffic patterns appear to have changed and staff and the neighbors in the area no longer feel the signal is necessary. The Board supported staff's recommendation to discontinue the traffic signal plans.
  • Update on recycling programs offered by the Village and the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC). An Electronics Drop Off program will be offered from May 4 - October 31 on Tuesday afternoons and Thursday mornings, and a Document Destruction Even will be held on June 12 from 9-11 a.m. Both programs will be located at Public Works, 1333 Shermer Road.

Approved

  • Extention of both Site Plan Review and Conditional Use (B-3 use in a B-2 zone) approvals for a Walgreens drive-through at Glenbrook Marketplace, 2871 Pfingsten Road, to May 30,2011 (previously they were set to expire in May, 2010 and November, 2011 respectively.)
  • Subdivisions:
    • 2218 Waukegan Road, Carriage Hill (final).
    • 1752 Linneman Street, Oloughlin (single-lot).
    • 2129 Grove Street, King's (single-lot).
  • Contracts, bid awards and purchases:
    • Sewer televising services from Chicagoland Trenchless Rehabilitation, Inc. Contract extension. Budget: $175,000.
    • Renewal of Village's liability insurance package plus broker fees to Mesirow Insurance Services. Budget:not-to-exceed $193,620.
  • Special events:
    • Summer Sounds Concert Series, Glen Town Center. June 1 - August 31.
    • Trick or Treat Trot, Special Olympics. Gallery Park,October 31.
  • Conditional Uses for two restaurants (B3 use in a B2 zone):
    • Noodles "Pho" U, 2532 Waukegan Road.
    • Red Mango & Bakersville, 1615 Milwaukee Avenue, Unit 105.
  • Establishment of two Special Service Areas:
    • SSA 55: 2642-2750 Park Lane.
    • SSA 47: Huber/Central sewer rehabilitation project.

First Consideration

  • Ordinances establishing 2009-2028 Tax Levy Abatement for two Special Service Areas -- unlimited ad valoreum tax bond series:
    • SSA 62: Series 2009B for $313,081.
    • SSA 63: Series 2009C for $86,918.
  • Conditional use and preliminary subdivision for the Glen of North Glenview Metra Station parking lots, 2301 Lehigh Avenue and 2451 Compass Road.

  • Allocation of $12,000 to support Youth Services' Summer Fun Club.
