Village President's Report:
- Swearing in of Officer Johnny LaBlanc, and Firefighter/Paramedics Brian Bos, Chaten Howard, and J.P. Guilbault
Village Manager's Report:
- Update on Glenview/Greenwood Intersection Improvement Project. This intersection has a history of
traffic congestion and is a high accident location (94 accidents from 2001-2003). The goal of the project is to
relieve congestion and discourage cut-through traffic in the area. It will widen Greenwood from Crestwood to just north of Linneman to two north-bound traffic lanes
and complete the gap in sidewalk along the East
side of Greenwood from Glenview to Springman. Phase I engineering is nearing completion. Construction start is anticipated in 2010.
Approved:
- Conditional use (B-3 use in a light industrial zone) for Auto Art, LLC, 3124 West Lake Avenue.
- Formal codification of existing regulations related to intersection solicitations. Only nonprofits may solicit, once a year for two consecutive days.
Soliciting may only take place at the Waukegan-East Lake, Glenview-Harlem, and Glenview-Waukegan intersections.
- Glen Town Center wine tasting event, May 30 - June 1, which will involve selling and serving alcohol on public property that is
not adjacent to
an establishment that holds a liquor license.
- Glenview Chamber of Commerce Summer Festival, June 28.
- Declaration of 42 fleet tires and shop welder surplus.
- Contract Awards:
- 2008-2010 crosswalk maintenance to Kaplan Paving and Trucking. Budget: $108,141 (three-year contract).
- Landscape refurbishments to ILT-Vignocchi. Budget: $72,063.
- Glenview/Washington/Prairie Water Main Improvement Project to ALamp Concrete Contractors, Inc. Budget: $73,281.
- Evaluation of redevelopment scenarios for former Dominicks site to S. B. Friedman. Budget: $30,000.
- Information Technology Services contract amendment with Prescient Solutions, Inc. to staff an Application Support Engineer Position.
This is necessary because the Village has identified the need to accelerate the completion of financial and public safety projects in advance of pending retirements and respond to recent staff reductions that affect the project schedule.
Budget: $70,000. This item also included a budget amendment.
