Village Manager's Report

  • Refuse & Recycling Update on the Village and Groot's ongoing transition to a standardized collection system. All applications for Hardship Service (which permits top-of-the-drive pick up) have been approved (adding 50 addresses to the list). In addition, the Village is exploring the possibility of expanding its contract with Groot to include multi-family buildings with individual unit refuse/recycling pick up. Multi-family housing homeowner and resident associations are encouraged to join Village staff for a discussion on this topic on Thursday, September 16 at 7 p.m. in the Police Station, 2500 East Lake Avenue.
  • Lehigh/Chestnut Railroad Crossing Traffic Report. Between 2003 and 2009 there were four accidents at this site. Trustees expressed support for staff recommendations, including replacing and expanding the worn diagonal pavements markings at the crossing (including the eastbound lane) to provide more visible "no stopping" zones and installing street lighting -- including transitional lighting on the approach to the crossing -- to reduce the potential for crashes at night.
