Village President's Report

  • Community Stormwater Management Workshop. Immediately following this meeting. The Board will sponsor a 30-minute Open House and then move on to presentations and questions.
  • Extension of storm-related building permit fee waiver. Fees will be waived on permits for many types of repairs related to the September storms through December 31.
  • Early Voting. Continues through October 30 at Village Hall. Hours are 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday; 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Saturdays. Don't forget to bring a photo ID.
  • 2009 Village Budget Workshop II. Thursday, October 30, 7 p.m. in the Police Station.
  • Next Board Meeting. Will take place on Thursday, November 6 due to the Presidential Elections. Village Hall, 7:30 p.m.

Approved

  • Conditional use (B-3 use in a B-2 District) and final site plan for Glenview Gas Mart - 451 Glenview Road.
  • Village participation in the Illinois Metropolitan Investment Fund. This will enhance the Village's investment opportunities and increase its investment earnings.
  • Appointment of Al Stonitsch, Human Resources Director, as authorized agent for the Intergovernmental Public Benefits Cooperative through which the Village procures life and health insurance for employees.
  • Extension of waiver on fees associated with permits for storm-related repairs through December 31, 2008.
  • Modifications to the Village's agreement with Astellas Holding U.S., LLC regarding any future appeals of property tax assessments. This relates to the company's application for a Class 7(b) tax incentive from Cook County. Vote 3-1 in favor.
  • Contract and bid awards:
    • Demolition of the EPCO Paint building (1900 Glenview Road) and former U.S. Post Office (1919 Prairie Street) to Bulley & Andrews. Budget: $289,294.
    • Old Willow Road reconstruction/widening project to Burns & McDonnell, Inc. Budget: $76,593.
  • Installation of stop signs on the Pinehurst Drive approaches to Swainwood Drive and the Swainwood Drive approach to Spruce Drive. Vote 3-1 in favor.
  • Installation of a stop sign at the Burton Terrace approach to Brandon Road. Vote 3-1 in favor.
  • Environmental Plan Review Ordinance for The Grove relating to the construction of wetlands and an earthen berm.
  • Intergovernmental agreement with the Village of Golf to provide on-call electrical and plumbing inspectional services. Fees for these services will be paid by Golf.
  • Establishment of a Gas Use Tax. The current tax structure imposed on natural gas consumption in Glenview is inequitable. This change will recapture tax dollars from natural gas consumers who have avoided tax payments by purchasing gas through a brokerage company. This could generate $385,000 - $482,000 in revenue for the Village annually.
  • Gas Use Tax agreement with Nicor Gas Company to collect the tax and remit (less its fee) to the Village.
