Project description

The proposed Project includes approximately 1 mile of improvements on Robincrest Avenue, Wissing Lane, Lincoln Street, Garden Court and Spruce Street Improvements between Harms Avenue and Shermer Road. The following major improvements are included in the contract:

  • ​Replacement of existing water main with new 8-inch diameter Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) water main
  • Upgrade existing storm sewer system
  • Resurface the asphalt roadway, including limited curb and gutter replacement
  • Restore the parkway with sod


Project information and updates​

Contractor: Martam Construction Inc.

Budget: $4 million

Tentative Schedule

  • Bid award -- April 19, 2022
  • Resident preconstruction meeting -- May 11, 2022, 6 p.m. at the intersection of Robincrest and Spruce streets
  • Approximate start of construction --May 23, 2022
  • Approximate completion of construction -- Oct. 14, 2022

Schedule may be revised due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Work hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Saturday. Work outside these hours will require Village approval.​

This past week, the contractor completed the installation of the topsoil and sodding. The contractor completed milling the top 2 inches of the existing asphalt and completed necessary pavement patching. The contractor will set all the manholes in the street to final grade prior to the final layer of new asphalt.

The week of November 7, the contractor will clean and prime the road prior to the final layer of asphalt. Asphalt Paving will begin on Tuesday November 8, and it's anticipated to be completed before November 11, 2022.

This past week, the contractor completed the installation of the topsoil and sodding. The contractor completed reinstating the asphalt driveways that were damaged due to the construction.

The week of October 31, The contractor will mill the top 2 inches of the existing pavement. The contractor will complete any pavement patching. The contractor will set all the manholes in the street to grade.

The final layer of asphalt is scheduled to be installed on Monday and Tuesday November 7th and 8th.

Throughout this phase of construction, the contractor will be working in the street and parkway.

This past week, the contractor completed the balance of the new curb and sidewalk to complete this portion of the roadwork. The contractor also has begun grading the parkways in anticipation of final landscaping.

The week of October 24, the contractor will continue prepping for the landscaping phase of the project. The topsoil and sod are tentatively scheduled to be completed by the end of the week of October 24. The contractor will also begin preparing the asphalt driveways that were damaged due to the construction for the finish layer of asphalt. New asphalt placement in the affected driveways is tentatively scheduled to begin mid-week.

The contractor will tentatively be working this Saturday October 22, landscape grading in advance of topsoil and sod.

Throughout this phase of construction, the contractor will be working in the street and parkway.
