Project description

Improvements to Covert Road from Shermer Road to Briarhill Road and Briarhill Road from Central Road to the south cul-de-sac include: 

  • installing 8-inch Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) water main and water services
  • installing 12-inch to 24-inch storm sewer to improve storm water conveyance
  • sanitary pipe repairs, removal and replacement of sanitary sewer manholes and service replacements, if necessary
  • pavement improvements, including removal and replacement of the existing curb and gutter and concrete pavements with installation of new asphalt pavement.

Tentative schedule

  • ​Bid award: March 3, 2020
  • Preconstruction meeting: March 17, 2020
  • Tentative construction start: April 6, 2020
  • Tentative construction completion: July 10, 2020

Schedule may be revised due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Work hours are from  7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Saturday. Work outside these hours will require Village approval.

Per order of the Illinois Governor in response to COVID-19, the Village’s infrastructure projects have been deemed essential operations and the 2020 construction season will continue as planned.​

The contractor is scheduled to begin the project the week of March 30. During this week the contractor plans to be onsite mobilizing equipment and laying out the work. During the week of April 6, the contractor plans to begin phase I of the project. Throughout this phase the contractor will be upgrading the storm and sanitary sewers and installing new water services and b-boxes. This phase of construction is expected to take 8 weeks. ​
