Three business awards conferred

Three awards were conferred January 8, 2020 by the Glenview Chamber of Commerce in recognition of exceptional service to the community. The first award went to a consummate manager and long-time volunteer; the second award honored, in part, a hospital that has served Glenview for 43 years; and the third went to the powers behind Glenview’s tsunami of a street party, Blocktoberfest.

Michael Moylan, Vice President with Wintrust Community Banks, was named 2019 Business Person of the Year in recognition of his impressive career and extensive leadership throughout the region. Active on both the Kiwanis Board and the Development Board for the Kohl Children’s Museum, Moylan has volunteered for the Glenview Education Foundation, Youth Services of Glenview/Northbrook, and Wesley Child Care. Newly inducted Chamber President Chris Falcon summarized, “He is a leader who inspires all.”

NorthShore University /Glenbrook Hospital was the recipient of the 2019 Business of the Year Award. A comprehensive medical center, the hospital provides advanced diagnostic services and treatments, including some 40 surgeries and 100 emergency room cases a day. The hospital also supports a range of community activities, including Leadership Glenview and Summer Fest, and its president, Jesse Peterson Hall, serves on the Glenview Chamber board. “The number of volunteers we have, the work we do with community agencies, the engaged businesses, the Village—we feel like we’re an integral part of the community,” Hall said. “I love the support the community gives to the hospital.”

The Blocktoberfest 3 — Bob Hausheer of Morning Glory Flower Shop, Brian Schafer of Ten Ninety Brewing Co., and Greg Goodsitt of Edward Jones and Friends of Downtown Glenview — were selected for the President’s Award in recognition of their initiation of Glenview’s newest public celebration. Supported by a number of organizations, including the Chamber, the three leaders spearheaded a safe, lively, and massively popular fest, with 7,500 guests consuming tons of entertainment and yes, beer. “They made Blocktoberfest a reality,” said Karen M. Patterson, out-going president, who conferred the honor.
