Local organizations, Solomon honored

With you For you Glenview -- the mantra guiding the way for the Chamber of Commerce in 2021 -- was inspired by actions taken in 2020 by Glenview organizations who reached out, reinvented themselves, and served the community in response to the novel coronavirus pandemic.

That's why the Glenview Chamber of Commerce has set aside its tradition of selecting a single "Business of the Year" and has formally recognized a group of organizations. While these are by no means the only businesses in Glenview that have stepped to the front, the Chamber wanted to acknowledge extraordinary efforts made by Family Service Center, the Glenview Park District, Northfield Township Food Pantry, NorthShore University HealthSystem/Glenbrook Hospital and all their staffs, Village of Glenview, Wesley Child Care Center and Youth Services of Glenview/Northbrook.

“Together they are an amazing asset and have had significant impact in our Village," Chamber President Chris Falcon said. “Their leadership, their energy, moved our Village forward in unprecedented circumstances."

Additionally, Craig Solomon, executive director of Wesley Child Care Center, has been awarded 2020 Business Person of the Year. Active on the Leadership Glenview Advisory Board, Kiwanis Board, and as Chair of the Glenview 4th of July Committee, Solomon also volunteers with Character Counts, Glenview Values Committee, Social Services, Glenbrook Hospital Community Advisory, and the Glenview Chamber Board of Directors.

This year, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Craig and Park District Executive Director Michael McCarty enacted the REC program to help local families negotiate the shifts, changes and pivots necessary in these challenging times

Falcon summarized, “Craig is a leader who inspires all."

The Chamber will hold a live recognition ceremony when it is safe to do so.  In the meantime, please help celebrate these great people and organizations who epitomize With you, For you, Glenview.
