Citizens Police Academy


Are you interested in getting an up-close look at what police do?


A group of up to 20 "students" can participate in 10 information sessions touching on patrol functions, dispatch operations, traffic issues, investigations, crime lab operations, community relations and police training.


The Academy, which is presented at no cost to the participants, runs every year beginning in the spring. Sessions are three hours each, and begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Glenview Municipal Center, 2500 East Lake Avenue. Participants will enter through Village Hall's main lobby. The next session will be starting in Spring 2026.


Applicants must be at least 18 years old and reside or own a business in Glenview. Applications will be available in December 2025.

Youth Police Academy

Next Academy is Summer 2026!


The Glenview Police Department excited to host the Youth Police Academy, a hands-on, interactive experience designed to give young community members an inside look at law enforcement. The academy is open to youth ages 11-13 and provides a unique opportunity to explore the world of policing through fun, hands-on activities and real-life scenarios. Participants will receive instruction and experience in:

  • Evidence processing and crime scene techniques
  • Conducting mock traffic stops
  • Patrol functions and procedures
  • A guided tour of the Police Department and 9-1-1 Dispatch Center
  • K9 Unit and drone demonstrations
  • Physical fitness activities

This academy is a great opportunity to learn from and connect with officers who serve the Glenview community!
