Home Government HR Generalist
The Village of Glenview (pop. 45,029) seeks an innovative and energetic professional to assist the Human Resource's Division with strong analytical ability to assist with routine human resource functions, benefits administration and risk management.
The Human Resources Generalist supports the Human Resources Division in the daily administrative functions of the division by analyzing and interpreting complex data; using independent judgment in order to develop recommendations, research trends in Human Resource functions and recommend areas for improvement; coordinate and evaluate the Village's recruitment program for all active and open positions, including public safety eligibility list creation; assist in the coordination of employee benefit's administration; coordinate the Village's training program; support the Division's contract administration duties; assist in the management of workers compensation and property damage claims; provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers both in person and via telephone; and other similar duties and projects as assigned. The Human Resources Generalist position must protect the privacy of employee information and maintain highly confidential information and material. This position serves as the primary back up for the Assistant Director of Human Recourses and reports directly to the Director of Human Resources.
Qualified candidates will have a bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, human resource management, or closely-related field. Master's degree is a plus, but not required. The successful candidate should possess a minimum of one to three years of related work experience; and candidates with previous human resource work experience in employee benefits and claim administration are preferred. A working knowledge of database structure, reporting and data analysis, is required. The successful candidate will have considerable skill in using independent judgment and taking independent action in establishing and adopting work procedures to new situations. Candidates should possess effective and courteous communication (both written and oral) and interpersonal skills when interacting with various team members. The ability to provide timely, professional customer service to both internal and external stakeholders is an absolute must. The successful candidate must also be able to independently plan and organize tasks, have a skill in record keeping and be proficient in the use of computer hardware and applicable computer software. The successful candidate will be subject to a pre-employment criminal history background investigation and medical screening, which will include a drug screen.
The salary starting salary is $60,000 DOQ, with an excellent fringe benefit package. This position is exempt under FLSA.
