Home Government Part Time Customer Service Representative
The Village of Glenview seeks a part-time Customer Service Representative to support multiple departments of the Village. The purpose of this position is to perform routine administrative and customer service support functions by serving as a primary contact for answering telephones, faxes, e-mails and problem solving customer concerns while educating them on Village programs, policies or ordinances. This individual will be responsible to aid in accepting payments via cash, check or credit cards and balancing a cash drawer. They will also provide administrative support by copying and scanning or filing of documents.
The Village of Glenview prides itself on providing excellent customer service to residents and internal customers, which is why the most important qualification for this position is a positive, outgoing, and welcoming attitude. Candidates must have a high school diploma or the equivalent, and one or more years of related work experience in an office environment. Ideal candidates will be able to demonstrate proficiency in the use of MS Office software, especially in creating Excel workbooks and using Word mail merge functionality, as well as related web-based computer software programs. Ideal candidates will possess a working knowledge of general office procedures, and practices. The position also requires strong organizational skills, as well as proficient typing and data entry skills.
Ideal candidates must possess the ability to multi-task and to maintain one's composure in a fast-paced environment. The ability to successfully work both independently and in a team environment is also critical. The candidate must have excellent verbal communication skills, and demonstrate a proven ability to respond and interact with internal and external customers in a courteous and professional manner. Candidate must be willing to work Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and be able to work additional hours on short notice as needed. Any requested time off and scheduled holidays will be unpaid.
The hiring process includes, but is not limited to, oral interview, background investigation, post-offer medical examination and drug screening. A computer-based skills and/or situational judgment test may also be part of the selection process. Due to the anticipated candidate response, only those applicants with experience and skills most closely meeting the needs of this position may be invited to participate in the selection process.
The starting base pay rate is $17.50/hr. or DOQ. Eligible for IMRF Pension. Eligible to purchase Health Insurance (HMO plans only) at 100% of premium. No additional fringe benefits.
