Actions:

  • Appointed Ellen Schonken as the student representative to the Village's Natural Resources Commission.
  • Received the findings from Fitch & Associates of Platte City, Mo., of an evaluation of the Fire Department, which comprehensively reviewed utilization of assets, including facilities, vehicles, equipment; an analysis of current administrative and operational staffing apparatus deployment models, emergency medical services; and fire suppression response protocols and workloads.
  • Approved a final subdivision for Avidor, 650 Waukegan Road, for one new lot of record to reflect the site configuration approved during review and permitting of the exiting senior living apartment building.
  • Authorized a contract with Schroeder Asphalt Services Inc. of Huntley, Ill. to rehabilitate the Techny Basin Trail, a nearly 1.3-mile, 10-foot-wide asphalt path with a new surface and aggregate shoulders. The western 0.6 mile would be improved this fall and the rest next year. An Illinois Bicycle Path Grant through the Illinois Department of Natural Resources will fund half the cost of the improvements.
  • Approved an amendment to the Intergovernmental Agreement between the Village and Glenview Park District to extend for one year the Village to dump snow in a parking lot at Community Park West.
  • Authorized a two-year contract extension with North American Corporation of Glenview for janitorial supplies.
  • Authorized an agreement with Rave Wireless Inc. of Framingham, Mass. for Smart 911, an application residents can use and update with information, and Rave Alert, a rapid notification system that allows the Village to send messages to residents related to boil orders, missing persons or other emergencies.
  • Approved water barrier rental costs to support outdoor dining at The Glen Town Center with Odyssey Group of Burr Ridge, Ill. for up to $69,115. The barriers temporarily block off on-street parking adjacent to some restaurants to expand their ability to provide additional outdoor dining while also maintain a safe area for pedestrians.
  • Granted final approval for a zoning variation for site lighting at Costco, 2900 Patriot Boulevard. The variation is needed for new light pole fixtures on existing light pole standards each at a height of 37.5 feet instead of the updated maximum height of 20 feet.
  • Preliminarily amended the Glenview Municipal Code to increase the number of Class B liquor licenses to 17 from 16, which authorizes the sale of beer and wine only for consumption on the premises where food is sold.
  • Preliminarily declared 15 vehicles and equipment as surplus property and to authorize disposition of the surplus property no longer compatible with current equipment or standards or now obsolete through auction or, if unsold, through recycling or other disposal methods.
