Actions:

  • Discussed updating the temporary outdoor dining policy during the coronavirus pandemic to allow for continued outdoor dining operations until Phase 5 of the “Restore Illinois" plan. To accommodate dining during colder weather, restaurants have requested permission to use enclosed tents and/or heaters to accommodate diners hesitant to utilize indoor dining rooms, which the revised policy would permit with several requirements.
  • Gave final approval to amending the Glenview Municipal Code to increase the number of Class B liquor licenses to 17 from 16, which authorizes the sale of beer and wine only for consumption on the premises where food is sold. The board, however, also preliminarily amended the Glenview Municipal Code to increase the number of Class A liquor license to 46 from 45, to accommodate a request from North Branch on Ice, which intends to apply for this license to authorize the sale of all alcohol for consumption on the premises where food is sold.
  • Gave final approval to declaring 15 vehicles and equipment as surplus property and to authorize disposition of the surplus property no longer compatible with current equipment or standards or now obsolete through auction or, if unsold, through recycling or other disposal methods.
  • Authorized approval of a Class B liquor license request for North Branch on Ice, 1851 Landwehr Road, inside the new Glenview Ice Center, which were permit the sale of beer/wine only for consumption on the premises were food is sold.
  • Authorized execution of an intergovernmental agreement with Metra to cover the cost of repairing damaged landscaping in the Metra right of way along the railroad tracks north of Chestnut Avenue.
  • Authorized an agreement with Davenport Group of Crystal Lake to purchase work order and permit review software and implementation services from October 6, 2020 to April 1, 2024 for a total $291,315.
  • Amended the existing contract with YMI Group of Elk Grove Village to increase it by $24,000 to perform a larger amount than anticipated heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) prevention maintenance and as-needed repairs.
  • Amended the existing contract with Midwest Power Industry Inc. of Ringwood Ill. to increase it by $23,000 to cover higher than anticipated generator repairs.
  • Authorized execution of an Intergovernmental Agreement with Metra to receive $243,543 to pay for repairs to the downtown Metra train station. The work will include roof repairs, painting and an electrical door replacement; authorized a contract with F.H. Paschen, S.N. Nielsen & Associated of Chicago to perform the roof repairs for $198,814; an authorized a contract with Pete the Painter of Northbrook for $24,390 to perform the painting. The Board also amended the 2020 Commuter Fund budget for $230,011 to cover the work.
  • Waived the formal bidding process and authorized a contract with Altorfer Power Systems to replace the engine of fire ladder truck 839 for $55,000.
  • Authorized purchase of software from Dell of Round Rock, Texas to license Microsoft Office products in the Office 365 environment for three years for a total $184,538.
