Actions:

  • Approved final site plan review and preliminary subdivision to allow construction of a 12,148-square-foot building for Glenview Center for Seniors, 3355 Milwaukee Avenue, a nonprofit senior services operation.
  • Approved text amendments to the Municipal Code to facilitate the restructuring of Village development-related commissions. The current Appearance, Historic Preservation and Plan commissions and the Zoning Board of Appeals will be consolidated into two. The Glenview Development Commission-New Development would review development requests for new developments. The Glenview Development Commission-Development Adjustments would review requests for modifications and additions to existing development as well as zoning variations for new single-family residences. Separately, the consolidation of the Building and Electrical commissions into a new hybrid Building Commission was approved.
  • Authorized a contract award to DiMeo Brothers Inc. of Elk Grove Village for up to $1,284,026 to make water main, storm sewer and sanitary sewer improvements to Strawberry Lane and Larch Avenue, and authorized an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Northfield Woods Sanitary District, to facilitate the Larch Avenue work.
  • Authorized a bid award and approved a contract with ENCAP Inc. of DeKalb, Ill. for up to $487,148 to stabilize about 750 feet of eroded stream bank on the west side of the West Fork of the North Branch of the Chicago River adjacent to open space along Pine Street created in 2015 when homes were demolished to reduce economic damage associated with major storm events.
  • With regards to future widening of Chestnut Avenue, authorized a contract with Burns & McDonnell Inc. of Chicago for up to $295,321 to perform Phase II engineering services and a contract with Huff & Huff Inc. of Oak Brook for up to $21,404 for Phase II environmental services.
  • Approved an intergovernmental agreement with the City of Chicago establishing the Village of Glenview to renew membership in the O'Hare Noise Compatibility Commission, which is dedicated to recommending actions for mitigating the impacts of air traffic originating at and departing from O'Hare International Airport.
  • Gave Village staff direction to continue with planning for proposed gateway and wayfinding signage designs, locations and costs.
  • ​Authorized and ratified spending in fiscal year 2020 for as-needed traffic signal repairs with Lyons Electric Company Inc. for an additional $9,976.
