Actions:

  • Declared April 30, 2021 as Arbor Day in the Village of Glenview and adopted a proclamation for participation in the Morton Arboretum's Plant Trees for Communities campaign.
  • Heard a report regarding Village responses to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Gave final approval to establish Special Service Area 100 to facilitate installation of curb and gutter for North Glenayre Drive between Glenview Road and the north end of the street. Upon completion of the project, the SSA costs will be split proportionately among the participating property owners and repaid through their property tax bill over a 20-year period at an approximate interest rate of 5 percent.
  • Gave final approval to establish Special Service Area 103 to facilitate installation of curb and gutter for Beaver Lane south of Wilmette Avenue. Upon completion of the project, the SSA costs will be split proportionately among the participating property owners and repaid through their property tax bill over a 20-year period at an approximate interest rate of 5 percent.
  • Gave final approval to a proposal to establish Special Service Area 104 to facilitate installation of curb and gutter for Surrey Lane and Forestview Lane south of Glenview Road. Upon completion of the project, the SSA costs will be split proportionately among the participating property owners and repaid through their property tax bill over a 20-year period at an approximate interest rate of 5 percent.
  • Gave final approval to establish Special Service Area 106 to facilitate installation of curb and gutter for Hill Circle off Central Road. This financing method is for property owners fund capital improvements benefitting a defined area or properties. Upon completion of the project, the SSA costs will be split proportionately among the participating property owners and repaid through their property tax bill over a 10-year period at an approximate interest rate of 5 percent.
  • Waived the competitive bid process and authorized a three-year contract agreement with three one-year extension options with All Traffic Solutions Inc. of Herndon, Va. to purchase speed boards, speed board batteries and speed board data collection subscriptions. The vendor is the sole provider of the data collection software subscriptions for Village speed boards.
  • Authorized a one-year contract extension with Precision Pavement Markings Inc. of Elgin for $75,000 to paint or repair pavement markings and reflectors.
  • Authorized a bid award and approved a contract with DiMeo Brothers Inc. of Elk Grove Village for up to $1,353,333 for water main and pavement improvements for just under a half-mile of Glenview Road between Milwaukee Avenue and Pfingsten Road and River Drive between Glenview Road and Dewes Street.
  • Authorized a bid award and approved a contract with Joel Kennedy Constructing Corp. of Chicago for up to $1,777,778 for water main installation, storm sewer upgrades and pavement improvements on just under a half-mile of Pleasant Lane between Waukegan Road and Sunset Ridge Road.
  • Approved a contract amendment with Advanced Data Processing Inc., a subsidiary of Digitech Computers LLC, for ambulance reimbursement billing services.
  • Gave final approval to extend the temporary moratorium on new development projects in the D-D Downtown Development District to October 21, 2021. Continuing this temporary pause will allow time to study and make desired adjustments to the Village's downtown regulations to align with recommendations coming from the Glenview Connect process, which aims to create and implement an Economic Development Strategic Plan and an update to the Downtown Revitalization Plan.
  • Waived the competitive bidding process and authorized execution of a $50,000 professional services contract with CallisonRTKL Inc. to update the Downtown Development District (D-D) regulations.
  • Voted support of the Community Solar Clearinghouse Solution (CS2) offered through the Metropolitan Mayor's Caucus, which offers eligible residents and small businesses an opportunity to “claim" a portion of the community solar development in Illinois without having to build, pay for, or maintain solar on their property.
  • Preliminarily amended the Glenview Municipal Code to increase the number of Class A liquor licenses from 48 to 50, Class B liquor licenses from 13 to 14; and Class G liquor licenses from 16 to 17 to facilitate applications from Dee's Place, 2600 Navy Boulevard; Glenview Grind, 1837 Glenview Road; Los Hurarches, 3842 Milwaukee Avenue; and Foodstuffs, 1456 Waukegan Road.
  • Preliminarily approved relocation of the designated construction and use envelope at 1695 Portage Run to permit construction of a new in-ground swimming pool and associated accessory improvements in the R-E zoning district and Environmentally Significant Area.
  • Preliminarily approved an Environmental Plan at 1651 Portage Run, a property in the R-E zoning distrit and Environmentally Significant Area, to allow for clearing of some existing vegetation, modifications to existing wetlands and subsequent construction of a new driveway, culvert, utility services and a new single-family detached residence.
