Swainwood Drive & Cedarwood Lane Improvements
2025 Capital Improvement Project


The proposed project includes approximately 1,600 feet of improvements on Swainwood Drive from the west cul-de-sac to Roosevelt Avenue, and approximately 150 feet of improvements on Cedarwood Lane from the north cul-de-sac to the north half of Cedarwood Lane.
The following major improvements are included in the project:
- Replacement of 2,400 feet of existing watermain with new 8-inch diameter Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) watermain, including new 1.5-inch water services and new b-boxes
- Installing additional inlets and storm sewer laterals
- Roadway resurfacing with new asphalt pavement
- Curb and gutter repairs
- Driveway apron replacement (in-kind)
- Parkway restoration with sod
Tentative Schedule
- Design open house meeting: October 17, 2024
- Contract Award: January 7, 2025
- Pre-construction resident meeting: February 25, 2025
- Anticipated start date: March 2025
- Anticipated completion date: July 2025

The week of June 9 the contractor backfilled the curb with topsoil. The contractor also finished fine grading the subgrade to ensure the road drains correctly when the final layer of asphalt is placed. Lastly, the asphalt contractor got delayed and asphalt is now being planned to be installed early next week.
After the first layer of asphalt is placed early next week there will be a break in work while to contractor switches focus to the reconstruction of Fir Street. The next time they will be on Swainwood and the next weekly update will be when they are ready to pave the final layer of asphalt, which they will do at the same time as Fir Street.

The week of June 2 the contractor finished pouring concrete along Swainwood and Cedarwood.
The week of June 9 the contractor will begin backfilling the curb they just poured with topsoil. The contractor will also be fine grading the subgrade to ensure the road drains correctly when the final layer of asphalt is placed. Lastly, the contractor is planning on paving the first layer of asphalt later in the week.

The week of May 26 the contractor prepared for the new curb and gutter by completing excavation for the curb and framing in preparation for pouring new concrete. The contractor started pouring the new curb and gutter in select areas.
The week of June 2 the contractor will continue to pour concrete in order to repair curb and gutter that was damaged during construction. They also plan on pouring new driveways and sidewalks throughout the street. Please be on the look out for hand delivered notices that will let residents know when their driveway access will be limited.

The week of May 19 the contractor continued excavating the road and removing curb and gutter in preparation of pouring new curb and gutter and paving the initial layer of asphalt. The contractor is tentatively planning on pouring the new curb and gutters after Memorial Day weekend.
The week of May 26 the contractor will continue to prepare for the new curb and gutter by completing excavation for the curb and framing in preparation for pouring new concrete. The contractor plans on pouring new curb and gutter later in the week. This initial pour will not affect any residents’ access to their driveway.

The week of May 12 the contractor started road excavation. This process involves removing the top layers of gravel and grading the road in preparation of curb and gutter repairs and asphalt paving. While they are removing the top layers of gravel the contractor will also be removing curb and gutter that will be later replaced.
The week of May 19 the contractor will continue excavating the road and removing curb and gutter in preparation of pouring new curb and gutter and paving the initial layer of asphalt. The contractor is tentatively planning on pouring the new curb and gutters after Memorial Day weekend.

The week of May 12 the contractor plans on starting road excavation. The week of May 5 the contractor will finish installing sanitary service cleanouts. After that the contractor will repair the necessary storm sewers. Towards the end of the week the contractor will finish storm sewer repairs and is tentatively planning on starting curb and gutter repairs by removing any curb that was damaged during construction

Residents will receive notice before their new water service is scheduled to be installed. While the contractor is connecting your new service, you will experience a water service interruption that could last up to one hour. The Village understands that not having water, even for a short period of time, is an inconvenience and we greatly appreciate your patience.
The week of April 21 the contractor will continue installing new water services starting where they left off the previous week. If the contractor finishes installing new water services they will begin storm sewer improvements along Swainwood.

This first section of water main is from Roosevelt to Cedarwood. The new water services connect each house with a new 1.5” copper water service line as well as a new b-box and water shut off. Residents will receive notice before their new water service is scheduled to be installed. While the contractor is connecting your new service, you will experience a water service interruption that could last up to one hour. The Village understands that not having water, even for a short period of time, is an inconvenience and we greatly appreciate your patience. The contractor also finished installing the water main on the second section of water main on Swainwood and began pressure testing and chlorinating the newly installed water main. The second section on Swainwood is from Cedarwood to the west Cul-de-Sac.

The week of March 24, 2025 the contractor finished installing the first section of water main on Swainwood. This first section of water main is from Roosevelt to Cedarwood. After they finished installing this first section the contractor is required to perform standardized testing on the new water main before it can be put into service. These tests including pressure testing and water main chlorination. While these tests were taking place the contractor continued installing water main for the second section (from Cedarwood to the west Cul-de-Sac).
The week of March 31, 2025 the contractor will continue installing water main starting where they left off the previous week.

During the week of March 10, 2025, the contractor began mobilization for the project and prepared the road for the installation of underground utilities. They pulverized the pavement in anticipation of water main installation next week. The contractor will also stage materials throughout the project including pipe and manholes.
The week of March 17, 2025, the contractor will begin installing new water main tentatively beginning at Swainwood and Roosevelt and working west. Installation of the new water main is anticipated to take four weeks. Residents can expect a temporary shut down when they begin the water main installation. Glenview Public works will let residents know at least 24 hours before any planned shutdowns.

Welcome to the project updates page for the Swainwood and Cedarwood Roadway and Utility Improvement Project. Project updates will typically be posted on Fridays of each week. The contract was awarded to DiMeo Brothers Inc. of Elk Grove Village, Illinois.
During the week of March 10, 2025, the contractor will begin mobilization for the project. This includes utility markings and layout in advance of the new water main and storm sewer spot repairs. The contractor will also stage material throughout the project including pipe and manholes.
The week of March 17, 2025, the contractor will begin installing new water main tentatively beginning at Swainwood and Roosevelt and working west. Installation of the new water main is anticipated to take four weeks. Residents can expect a temporary shut down when they begin the water main installation. Glenview Public works will let residents know at least 48 hours before any planned shutdowns.
