Tall Trees Improvements
2024-2025 public improvement project
The proposed project includes approximately 0.65 miles of improvements on Sequoia Trail from Chestnut Avenue to East Lake Avenue, including Tulip Tree Court and Alder Place. There will be two phases to this project:
- Phase I is in 2024 (Blue) - Chestnut Avenue to Alder Place
- Phase II is in 2025 (Red) - Alder Place to East Lake Avenue
The following major improvements are included in phase I and phase II of this project:
- Installation of approximately 4,300 feet of 8-inch, 10-inch and 12-inch Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) water main and services
- Storm sewer improvements include the installation of approximately 600 feet of 12-inch PVC, 1,775 feet of 24-inch Reinforced Concrete Pipe (RCP), 500 feet of 36-inch RCP and 300 feet of 48-inch RCP
- Box Culvert replacement
- New sidewalk of approximately 6,200 square feet
- Sanitary sewer and service repairs
- Pavement improvements include the complete replacement of the curb & gutter and reconstruction of the road with new asphalt pavement after underground utilities replacement/upgrades are complete

Schedule may be revised due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Work outside these hours will require Village approval.

Sequoia Trail
The week of November 18, the contractor made final adjustments to all utility structures in the roadway. They also finished installing the guardrail along the sidewalk at the box culvert and prepared the parkway for final restoration.
The week of November 25 the contractor plans on paving the final layer of asphalt. They plan on paving the last layer on Tuesday November 26. After thanksgiving the contractor will finish parkway restoration by placing sod in all areas of the parkway that were damaged during construction.

Sequoia Trail
The week of November 11, the contractor began preparing the subgrade of the road for the first layer of asphalt. This entails installing the new stone base and grading it to ensure proper drainage once the asphalt is paved. The contractor paved the first layer of asphalt Friday.
The week of November 18, the contractor plans on restoring the parkways that were damaged due to construction. This work entails placing topsoil, grading it and then placing sod on top. Once all landscape restoration is complete the contractor plans on paving the final layer of asphalt. The contractor plans on being complete with the project before Thanksgiving.
Lincoln Street Green Alley Project
The week of November 11, the contractor paved the final layer of asphalt in the alley.

Sequoia Trail
The week of November 4, the contractor prepared and restored the areas of curb that were damaged or removed during construction.
The week of November 11, the contractor will begin preparing the subgrade of the road for the first layer of asphalt. This entails installing the new stone base and grading it to ensure proper drainage once the asphalt is paved. The contractor is tentatively planning to pave the first layer of asphalt later in the week. Paving typically takes one day, but during this time it will be extremely difficult to get residents in and out of their driveways. The village recommends residents limiting their trips to avoid inconveniences.
Lincoln Street Green Alley Project
The week of November 4, the contractor paved both layers of asphalt in the alley. This completes most of the work for the project.
The week of November 11, the contractor is planning on restoring the areas of the parkway that were damaged due to construction. They will restore these areas with either sod or by planting seed and stabilizing the area with erosion control blanket.

Sequoia Trail
The week of October 28, the contractor continued restoring the sidewalk along Sequoia Trail. They also finished removing the existing pavement in preparation for curb and gutter restoration and the road reconstruction.
The week of November 4, the contractor will continue removing areas of curb and gutter that were damaged during construction. The contractor tentatively plans on preparing these areas middle of the week and pouring the new curb late in the week. Residents who will be affected by this operation will get a notice on their door telling them they will not have access to their driveway for 10-12 days as the new concrete cures. Please watch for hand delivered notices from the Village.
Lincoln Street Green Alley Project
The week of October 28, the contractor finished installing the storm sewer detention system under Lincoln alley. They also completed the removal and replacement of sidewalk, curb, and aprons at both entrances to the alley. The contractor plans on working Saturday November 2, they will be patching Washington Road. A part of Washington Road from the east alley entrance to Glenview Road will be closed from the hours of 7am to 12pm. It will be reopened after the contractor is finished patching the road.
The week of November 4, the contractor is going to start the excavation and grading of the alley in preparation for paving the first layer of asphalt. This process involves removing any excess stone left in the alley and grading the new stone base to ensure proper drainage after the asphalt is paved. The contractor tentatively plans on paving the first layer of asphalt late this week.

Sequoia Trail
The week of October 21, the contractor finished installing storm sewer along Sequoia Trail. They also begun sidewalk restoration. This involves removing any sidewalk that was previously damaged or damaged due to construction activities and replacing it with brand new concrete.
The week of October 28, the contractor will continue removing and replacing sidewalk with the goal of having all sidewalks accessible for Halloween.
Lincoln Street Green Alley Project
The week of October 21, the contractor began installing the storm sewer detention system under Lincoln alley. They begun at the east side of the alley and are working west.
The week of October 28, the contractor is going to continue installing the under-ground storm detention basin, starting where they left off the previous week.

The week of October 14, the contractor continued installing the new storm sewer south along Sequoia trail.
The week of October 21, the contractor will resume installing storm sewer where they left off the previous week. Storm sewer is expected to be completed this week.
Lincoln Street Green Alley Project
The Lincoln Street Green Alley project is tentatively planned to start next week on October 21. The Village of Glenview is constructing this project in partnership with the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Great Chicago (MWRD). This revolutionary storm sewer system will help reduce storm water runoff, clean and filter stormwater, and improve the water quality of our rivers and lakes. Starting the week of October 21, the contractor will begin by removing the existing layers of gravel and begin the installation of the storm water detention. During this week the alley will be closed to traffic. Residents who have driveways on the alley will be asked to park on Prairie or adjacent streets since they will not be able to drive their vehicle in and out of the alley during the hours of construction.
The week of October 28, the contractor is going to continue installing the under-ground storm detention basin, starting where they left off the previous week.

The week of October 7, the contractor continued installing the new storm sewer south along Sequoia trail.
The week of October 14, the contractor will resume installing the new storm sewer where they left off the previous week. Storm sewer is expected to be completed this week.
Also, as a part of the Lincoln Street Green Alley Project the contractor is expected to start mobilizing material and equipment to the project site during the week of October 14. Residents near the alley on Lincoln street, located between Glenview Road and Prairie Street, will start to see construction equipment arriving on site. The following week (week of October 21) they will begin construction by starting the installation of the storm sewer improvements.

The week of September 23, the contractor finished the installation of the box culvert and the headwalls. The contractor also started installing storm sewer starting at the box culvert and working north.
The week of September 30, the contractor will continue installing storm sewer. Once they finish the north arm of the new storm sewer they will start again at the box culvert and work south. They are tentatively planning on finishing storm sewer the week of October 7.

The week of September 16, the contractor continued installing the new box culvert at the creek crossing. The road will still be closed to pedestrians and vehicles.
The week of September 23, the contractor is planning on finishing the installation of the box culvert later in the week. Once the box culvert is finished and backfilled the road will remain closed during the day but will be accessible overnight while the contractor installs the wing walls of the culvert and storm sewer.

The week of September 9, the contractor finished installing the new water services and making the final connections that will fully integrate the new water main into the Village’s existing water system. Also, the contractor began delivering material and equipment for the installation of the new box culvert. Starting Thursday September 12th, Sequoia Trail will be closed from Silverwillow to Blackthorn. The road will be closed to pedestrians and vehicles. This closure will tentatively last for one month as they install the new box culvert.
The week of September 16, the contractor will continue installing the new box culvert at the creek crossing. The road will still be closed to pedestrians and vehicles.

The week of September 2, the contractor continued to install new water services. They worked south to north starting where they left off the previous week. The new water services connect each house with a new 1.5” copper water service line as well as a new b-box and water shut off. Residents will receive notice before their new water service is scheduled to be installed. While the contractor is connecting your new service, you will experience a water service interruption that could last up to one hour. The Village understands that not having water, even for a short period of time, is an inconvenience and we greatly appreciate your patience.
The week of September 9, the contractor will finish installing the new water services. Once they are complete with installing the new water service for every house, they will begin making the final connections that will fully integrate the new water main into the Village’s existing water system. During this time you might experience some water outages as they make the connections. All affected homes will be notified prior to any planned water outages.

Welcome to the project updates page for the Sequoia Trail Reconstruction Project. Project updates will typically be posted on Fridays of each week. The contract was awarded to DiMeo Brothers Inc. of Elk Grove Village Illinois.
During the week of July 22, 2024, the contractor will begin mobilization for the project. This includes utility markings and layout and pavement saw cutting in advance of the new water main and storm sewer. The contractor will also stage material throughout the project including pipe and manholes.
The week of July 29, 2024, the contractor will begin installing new water main tentatively beginning at Silverwillow and working towards Blackthorn. Installation of the new water main is anticipated to take four weeks. Affected residents will be notified in advance about the water shutdown the week of July 29 for the new water main connection.
