Cedarwood Lane & Sumac Circle Improvements
2024 public improvement project
The proposed project includes approximately 600 feet of improvements on Cedarwood Lane from Linden Leaf Drive to Fir Street, and approximately 700 feet of improvements on Sumac Circle from the west cul-de-sac to the east cul-de-sac.
The following major improvements are included in this project:
- Installation of approximately 1,200 feet of 8-inch Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) water main with new 1.5-inch service and b-boxes on Cedarwood Lane and Sumac Circle
- Storm sewer improvements include installation of 850 feet of 12-inch, 16-inch and 18-inch storm sewer
- Sanitary sewer improvements, including pipe and manhole repairs and replacement of sanitary services, if necessary
- New curb and gutter
- Road reconstruction with asphalt pavement
- Parkway restorations with sod
Tentative Schedule
- Design open house – October 16, 2023
- Bid award - Anticipated February 2024
- Resident pre-construction meeting – March 20, 2024
- Approximate stating date of construction – May 2024
- Approximate completion of construction – Mid-September 2024
Schedule may be revised due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Work outside these hours will require Village approval.

The week of August 26, the contractor finished paving the last layer of asphalt.

August 23 Update 08/26/2024
The week of August 19, the village conducted final inspections of the newly installed utilities. During that time the contractor completed the landscape restoration of the parkway areas that were affected by construction by placing topsoil and sod.
The week of August 26, the contractor is tentatively scheduled to pave the final layer of asphalt on Tuesday August 27. On Tuesday the road will be cleaned and primed in advance of the final layer of asphalt. The prime coat is an oily substance that helps the final layer of asphalt bond to the existing layer. The prime coat will be dry in approximately 15 minutes. work is dependent on favorable weather conditions and will be postponed to the next favorable day if rain is in the forecast.

August 16, 2024 08/19/2024
The week of August 12, the contractor completed backfilling behind the curbs. The contractor also completed grading the aggregate base in advance of the first layer of new asphalt. The first layer of new asphalt was placed on Wednesday August 14.
The week of August 19, the village is planning on making final inspections of the newly installed utilities. During that time the contractor will then place topsoil and making final grading adjustment in preparation of parkway restoration. The week of August 5, the contractor placed the new curb, and began re-instating all the driveways and backfilling behind the new curb.
The contractor will work Saturday august 10, grading the road in advance of the first layer of new asphalt.
The week of August 12, the contractor will complete backfilling behind the curbs as well as re-instating the asphalt and concrete driveways. The contractor will grade the aggregate base in advance of the first layer of new asphalt. The week of July 29, the contractor will excavating the new road and placing the new aggregate base in advance of the new curbs and asphalt pavement.
The next phase will be installation of the new curb and placement of the first layer of new asphalt. This will require all residents to remove their vehicles their driveways, beginning Monday August 5, 2024, at 7:00 a.m. until tentatively August 15 at the end of the day. During this time the contractor will place the new curb, re-state all the driveways as well as place the first layer of new asphalt. The notice delivered to your home earlier this week had a map with parking suggestions during this time. If you should have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us. The week of July 22 the contractor completed the new storm sewer work.

The week of July 15 the contractor continued installation of the new storm sewer system.
The week of July 22 the contractor will continue installing storm sewer and is expected to finish late in the week. Once the storm sewer is completed the contractor will move to Phase II construction which is the curb and new asphalt. The next step will be doing the preliminary grading in preparation for the installation of the new curb and gutter.

The week of July 8, the contractor has finished installing water services and then made any final connections they need to make in order to finish the installation of the water main. The contractor also started installing the new storm sewer system.
The week of July 15 the contractor will continue installation of the new storm sewer system.

The week of July 1 the contractor continued installing new water services. The new water services connect each house with a new 1.5" copper water service line as well as a new b-box and water shut off. Residents will receive notice before their new water service is scheduled to be installed. While the contractor is connecting your new service, you will experience a water service interruption that could last up to one hour. Then they will conduct site cleanup to prepare for the 4th of July.
The week of July 8, the contractor will finish installing water services and then make any final connections they need to make in order to finish the installation of the water main. If the contractor is able to finish installing the water main by the end of the week, they will begin installing the new storm sewer system.
