Applications open for 2025 class of Hometown Heroes

Applications are now being accepted for the 2025 class of Hometown Heroes.

The Glenview Hometown Heroes Program, a partnership between the Village and Joseph M. Sesterhenn American Legion Post 166, allows those who serve(d) to be honored with a recognition at a Village Board of Trustees meeting and by having a banner placed on a municipal utility pole in the heart of Downtown Glenview.

The Village is now accepting applications for the 2025 class and beyond. Ten service members will be recognized each year, and the Village will hold onto nominations for additional service members to use in future years.

In addition to serving in a branch of the armed forces, nominees should have spent a significant portion of their life in Glenview. Final decisions on selecting honorees will be at the discretion of the American Legion.

An application to nominate service members is available on the Village website at glenview.il.us/hometown-heroes. Every application must include the following materials in order to be considered:

• Hometown Heroes Banner Application and Signed Release
• High-Resolution (if available) photograph of the service member in uniform
• Military Verification (DD214, military ID, orders, etc.)
