The Village of Glenview is creating a comprehensive Sustainability Plan — and resident input is needed!

This plan will serve as a long-term roadmap to reduce the Village's environmental impact, prepare for future challenges, and foster long-term sustainability in Village operations. Residents are encouraged to help shape the plan by completing a short public survey.

The Village has made significant progress in its efforts related to sustainability over the years, including development and implementation of A Plan for Nature, the Urban Forest Management Plan, the Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan, and updates to local tree preservation ordinances. The new Sustainability Plan will serve as a unifying framework, ensuring these initiatives work in tandem, filling gaps and setting clear priorities for the future.

To guide this effort, the Village has partnered with Blue Strike Environmental, a consulting firm with expertise in sustainable planning. The firm will work alongside Village staff and the Environment and Natural Resources Commission to analyze Glenview’s current sustainability efforts, identify opportunities for improvement and establish measurable goals for the future.

If residents have questions about the process or additional input for the Sustainability Plan, please email Doug Hammel, Deputy Director of Community Development.
