The Village of Glenview recognized 10 extraordinary service members with connections to Glenview as Hometown Heroes at the Village's Board of Trustees meeting on Tuesday, May 6.

Now in its second year, the Hometown Heroes program is a partnership between the Village and the Joseph M. Sesterhenn American Legion Post 166. The initiative pays tribute to U.S. military service members—past and present—who have lived in Glenview or have a strong local connection. Each year, 10 honorees are selected from public nominations by Post 166 and are recognized with individual banners displayed along Glenview Road.

The 2025 class features service members representing the United States Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines. These 10 individuals have served deployments both stateside and abroad, with service dates ranging from World War II to present-day deployments. Two honorees are currently serving on active duty.
