The Village of Glenview recently received a $20,000 grant to help combat the long-term effects of the emerald ash borer (EAB), a destructive invasive beetle that has devastated ash tree populations across the Midwest.

The funding was used to treat more than 200 parkway trees in 2024, and the Village will be treating another group of just under 100 trees in 2025. These trees will continue being treated into the future, with each group being treated every other year.

The grant funding was provided by the Urban and Community Forestry Programs of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and USDA Forest Service Eastern Region. The grant program is being administered by The Morton Arboretum’s Chicago Region Trees Initiative to provide support for communities affected by emerald ash borer infestations.
