The Village Board approved the 2026 budget during Tuesday's (Dec. 2) meeting, the last Board of Trustees meeting of the year.

The Village budget remains balanced, stable and flat, meaning year-over-year spending is holding steady. The Village is anticipating a spending increase of only 0.8% compared to 2025.

Current property taxpayers will experience no change in the Village portion of their property tax bill, with the small levy increase being absorbed by new and updated properties.

Here are a few highlights included in the 2026 budget:

  • The Village continues to invest in itself with more than $43 million planned toward capital improvements. That includes $18.44 million to rebuild 3.4 miles of roadway and replace 4.1 miles of watermain. The Village does not borrow money to pay for capital projects, allowing it to maximize its investment and stretch a dollar the furthest;
  • The hiring of a part-time sustainability consultant to help guide implementation of Glenview’s sustainability plan;
  • New bicycles for the Glenview Police Department’s Bicycle Unit;
  • A new heavy duty plow truck in Public Works;
  • The installation of a green parking lot at the Municipal Center;
  • Maintenance and renovation of the North Glen Metra Train Station;
  • Funding for the Village to take over two community compost drop-off locations that Greener Glenview launched as a pilot program in 2025; and
  • The Village is also maintaining more than $1 million toward business support grants to help new and existing businesses enhance their buildings and operations.
