With spring storm season arriving in the Chicagoland area, residents are reminded to be prepared for various emergencies, including tornadoes, wind & hail, thunderstorms, lightning and other severe weather. The most important thing you can do now is to have a plan.

Here are the primary boxes the National Weather Service recommends you be able to check as part of your emergency planning:

  • Include these three things in your emergency plan
  • Where to shelter
  • How to reach each other
  • Meet-up spot if you are separated
  • Know where to get weather updates: NWS Chicago webpage is weather.gov/chicago
  • Have multiple ways to get weather information
  • Ensure wireless emergency alerts are enabled on your smartphone
  • "Get in, get down, cover up!" -- be able to quickly activate your plan!

The Village will communicate severe weather information on its website, through this eGlenview newsletter and via text alerts. Learn more and opt in at glenview.il.us/texting.
