The Village has been informed of an increasing number of scam attempts by imposters posing as members of the Glenview Police Department.

Several residents have reported receiving scam calls from the Police Department claiming a family member is in custody who needs money to get out of jail or missed a jury summons. These types of calls are always scams. Police departments will never ask an individual to wire money, use Bitcoin, PayPal or provide gift cards for payment.

If you ever doubt the validity of a call from the Police Department -- or any agency asking for money -- hang up and call the Police Department back directly at 847-729-5000.

Please help spread the word, especially to your elderly friends, neighbors and family members, who are often targeted in these sorts of scams.
