The Village is kicking off its annual parkway tree trimming the week of Feb. 3, starting in the Indian Ridge and Park Manor neighborhoods.

The Village maintains more than 30,000 trees throughout its parkways and municipal properties, and caring for these trees is necessary for overall tree health, removing hazardous deadwood and providing clearance for street signs, streetlights and buildings. Crews are accompanied by a licensed arborist to ensure proper tree care.

The Village performs tree trimming in portions of town every year and aims to inspect and maintain every Village tree on a five-year cycle.

Residents who don't have a parkway tree in front of their property and are interested in one may call the Village at 847-724-1700 to learn more about the process and order a tree. The Village plants these free of charge on an annual basis.

Residents interested in learning more about Glenview's urban forest and the various programs the Village offers to plant and care for trees may visit glenview.il.us/trees.
