The Village of Glenview has launched a new texting platform that delivers timely community updates and emergency alerts straight to residents’ phones.

Signing up is easy, and residents can choose from two separate text channels, depending on the type of information they’d like to receive.

  • Text GVNews to 78015 to subscribe to community news and updates, including Village programs, community events, construction updates and service reminders.
  • Text GVAlerts to 78015 to receive emergency notifications and alerts about unplanned road closures, weather warnings and snowplow updates.

Residents can subscribe to one or both and opt out anytime.

The texting platform builds on Glenview’s long-standing use of the Smart911 platform. Smart911 allows residents to create personal safety profiles that can be accessed by emergency dispatchers when a 911 call is placed. These profiles can include critical information such as medical conditions, emergency contacts, or household details—helping to improve emergency response time and accuracy.

Residents can create a safety profile at smart911.com. Be sure to mark your calendar to update your profile once a year to stay current in the system.

The Village’s Public Safety Dispatch Center has used the Smart911 system for years to send emergency communications to its member communities. This new expansion leverages the platform’s existing infrastructure to make routine and urgent messaging more accessible to all residents.
