Lincoln Street Improvements

The week of September 8th, the contractors have installed the final layer of pavement. The only remaining items left are punchlist items and final striping.  

Good News! The project is substantially completed, and this will be the final blog post for the Lincoln Street Roadway and Utility Improvement project. We hope you found the information to be helpful and insightful regarding the status of the project and upcoming work.  

The Village of Glenview will provide surveys in the future for you to complete regarding the construction work and notifications provided. Please take a few moments to complete this survey. This week the contractors were not on site installing the final surface as we originally planned because we want the sod to be installed first which is scheduled for early next week. The sod must be installed first because the machines used for installation will be twisting and turning and could mark up the freshly paved street so to be safe, we pushed it back.  Next week the contractors plan on installing the final layer of surface along with the sod installation.

Lincoln Street Roadway and Utility Improvement Project (Tentative Completion July)  

This week the contractors completed the preparation for landscape restoration by installing 4” of topsoil. Next week the contractors plan on installing the final layer of surface along with the sod installation.

This week the contractors completed the first layer of asphalt and structure adjustments in the road. The week of August 25, the contractor will be preparing the yards for landscape restoration with topsoil and sod.

This week the contractors continued fine grading the road in preparation for the first layer of asphalt. Tentatively the road is scheduled to be paved on Wednesday the August 20th, weather permitting. Please keep an eye out for notices on Monday August 18th, where we will be providing additional information on what to expect during this phase of construction.

The week of Monday August 4th,the contractors have completed the concrete flatwork for the project. 

Next week beginning on August 11th the contractors will begin grading the road in preparation for first layer asphalt. As they are grading the road they will also install ramps to allow access to your driveways.

The week of July 28, the contractors completed working on road reconstruction improvements by installing the new concrete curb and flatwork improvements on the East side of the road. The week of Monday August 4th, we will be working on installation of the new concrete curb and flatwork on the West side of the street. Please keep an eye out for a notice with additional details that has been hand delivered this afternoon.

The week of July 21, the contractors completed working on road reconstruction improvements by cutting the road to subgrade in preparation for the new asphalt. Today you should have received a notice where we are asking the East side of Lincoln to remove their vehicles as we plan on pouring curb. The goal is to have you all removed from Monday the 28th to the following Monday August 4th.

The week of July 14th, the contractors continued working on road reconstruction improvements by cutting the road to subgrade in preparation for the new asphalt and will continue working on the road improvements all of next week as well. Next week they will continue with cutting the road in preparation for the pavement.

The week of July 7th, the contractors will continue working on installing storm sewer improvements along with the water connections and disconnections.  

Next week July 14th, the contractors plan on continuing working on road reconstruction improvements by cutting the road to subgrade in preparation for the new asphalt.

The week of June 30 the contractor completed the water services and began preparation of reconstructing the road by subgrading the road starting at Golf working North.  

The week of July 7th, the contractors will continue working on subgrading the road and also plan on installing storm sewer improvements, North of McArthur.

The week of June 23 the contractor finished installing the rest of the water services and all underground improvements by completing the storm sewer installations. 

The week of June 30 the contractor plans on beginning preparation of reconstructing the road by removing to top layers of stone. Once they complete the excavation they will then install a new stone subgrade for the road. After the subgrade of the new road has been removed and replaced the contractor will then start work installing the new concrete sidewalk and curb later in July.

The new water services connect each house with a new 1.5” copper water service line as well as a new b-box and water shut off. Residents will receive notice before their new water service is scheduled to be installed. While the contractor is connecting your new service, you will experience a water service interruption that could last up to one hour. The Village understands that not having water, even for a short period of time, is an inconvenience and we greatly appreciate your patience.  

The week of June 23 the contractor will finish installing the rest of the water services and plans on finishing all underground improvements by completing the storm sewer installations.

The week of May 26 the contractor finished installing water main along the street. While the new water main underwent standardized testing before it can be put into service, the contractor started installing storm sewer improvements throughout the project area. 

The week of June 2 the contractor will continue installing storm sewer starting where they left off the previous week.

The week of May 19 the contractor continued installing new water main along Lincoln Street.

The week of May 26 the contractor will finish installing the new water main and will start storm sewer repairs along Lincoln street. This includes updates to the current storm system at certain places within the project limits.

The week of May 5 the contractor began installing the new water main starting at Golf Road. The contractor continued installing water main working north towards Colfax.

The week of May 12 the contractor will continue to install new water main starting where they left off the previous week.

The week of April 28 the contractor pulverized the existing roadway. The contractor also continued mobilization for the project which includes staging equipment and material throughout the project limits. 

The week of May 5 the contractor is tentatively planning on starting the water main installation at the intersection of McArthur and Lincoln. Residents can expect a temporary shut down when they begin the water main installation. Glenview Public works will let residents know at least 24 hours before any planned shutdowns.

Welcome to the project updates page for the Lincoln Street Roadway and Utility Improvement Project. Project updates will typically be posted on Fridays of each week. The contract was awarded to PirTano Construction Company of Addison, IL.

During the week of April 21 the contractor began mobilization for the project. This includes utility markings and layout in advance of the new water main and storm sewer spot repairs. The contractor will also stage material throughout the project including pipe and manholes.

The week of April 28 the contractor plans on pulverizing the existing roadway. This entails milling the existing surface and leaving it in place, essentially making Lincoln Street a gravel roadway. Later in the week the contractor is tentatively planning on starting the installation of water main starting at the intersection of Lincoln and McArthur.
