Glenview Sustainability Plan
The Village of Glenview is creating a Sustainability Plan!
The Village of Glenview is preparing a Sustainability Plan that will establish policies related to municipal operations, resource management, environmental conservation, multi-modal transportation, flood management, and other sustainability related topics. And we want feedback from you! Use the “Stay in the Loop” button below to sign up for email updates as the process unfolds.
The general schedule for the planning process is as follows:
· December 2024-February 2025: Data analysis and review of relevant plans, policies and regulations
· February-May 2025: Public Outreach Phase 1: Issues, Opportunities and Aspirations
· May-July 2025: Drafting of Preliminary Policies
· July-August 2025: Public Outreach Phase 2: Policy Review and Prioritization
· August-September 2025: Preparation of the Draft Sustainability Plan
· November 2025-March 2026: Public Outreach Phase 3: Public Plan Review and Adoption
Throughout the process, this website will be updated to include links to online surveys, information about upcoming meeting dates, and documents for review by members of the Glenview community.
SUSTAINABILITY PLAN READY FOR BOARD OF TRUSTEES REVIEW! 04/13/2026
On April 21, the Board of Trustees will consider formal approval of the Glenview Sustainability Plan. Trustees will be presented with information regarding the planning process that included initial data analysis, public engagement, ENRC review of goals, objectives, recommendations and priorities, and key actions related to plan implementation. The draft Sustainability Plan can be viewed by clicking here.
The Sustainability Plan Goes to the NDC! 02/20/2026
The draft Sustainability Plan is ready for review and will go before the New Development Commission (NDC) on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. (This is an update from a previous expected date of March 25.) That meeting will be held at Village Hall (2500 East Lake Avenue) and will begin at 7:00 PM. The NDC agenda and related materials can be found here.
The NDC will be asked to provide feedback on the draft plan and consider a recommendation of approval to the Board of Trustees. Any public comment regarding the draft Sustainability Plan can be provided by email to NDCcomment@glenview.il.us.
Draft Sustainability Plan prepares for NDC Review! 02/12/2026
On January 26, the Environment and Natural Resource Commission (ENRC) voted to support the draft Sustainability Plan, noting certain revisions to be made before the document is presented to the New Development Commission (NDC). The revised plan, which incorporates all of the ENRC's revisions, can be found here. It is expected that the draft Sustainability Plan will be presented to the NDC on March 25.
Revised Draft Sustainability Plan Ready to View! 01/22/2026
Thank you for your continued interest in the status of the draft Village of Glenview Sustainability Plan. Click here to review the newest version of the draft plan document. The original draft has been updated based on the direction of the Environment and Natural Resource Commission (ENRC). This revised draft will be presented to the ENRC on Monday January 26. That meeting will be held at Village Hall (2500 East Lake Avenue) at 7 PM.
The Draft Sustainability Plan is ready for review! 12/11/2025
Good afternoon,
After nearly a year of technical analysis, research, public engagement, and work by the Environment and Natural Resource Commission (ENRC), concerns residents and Village staff, the Draft Sustainability Plan is ready for public review. On Monday, December 15, the ENRC will meet to discuss the draft plan document during a meeting that will take place at 7 PM at Village Hall (2500 East Lake Avenue). Comments regarding the draft plan can be submitted in advance of the ENRC meeting to dhammel@glenview.il.us, and members of the public are invited to attend the ENRC meeting to listen to and participate in the discussion regarding this important document.

On August 4, the Environmental and Natural Resources Commission (ENRC) reviewed draft recommendations for the Glenview Sustainability Plan. The Village is now seeking feedback from the Glenview community! You can provide feedback in one of two ways:

• Plan to attend a Sustainability Plan Open House on September 13 from 11 AM to 2 PM at the Park Center (2400 Chestnut Avenue)

Sustainability Plan Project: 7/31/2025 Project Update 07/31/2025
On Monday, August 4, 2025, the Environmental and Natural Resource Commission (ENRC) will discuss draft recommendations for its new Sustainability Plan. The ENRC meeting will start at 7:00 PM and will be held in the Burnham Board Room at Village Hall (2500 East Lake Avenue). The staff report and draft plan recommendations can be found here. Members of the public are invited to attend the meeting and provide feedback to the ENRC. Sustainability Plan Project Update: 5/21/2025 05/21/2025
The Village's Sustainability Plan consultant, Blue Strike, provided an update on the project at the May 19th Environment and Natural Resources Commission meeting. The consultant reviewed findings from engagement thus far, baseline green house gas data, and strategy framework.
