Downtown Parking Lot Improvements
2025 Capital Improvement Project

Depot Street- West Parking Lot
The Metra commuter parking lot west of Depot Street, north of Grove Street, and east of the Metra Railroad is being improved to accommodate additional parking spaces for commuters and improve functionality.
The scope of work includes:
- Parking lot reconstruction with new asphalt pavement
- Upgraded lighting
- Site grading
- Storm sewer infrastructure upgrades
- New curb-and-gutter
- Pedestrian-friendly sidewalks
- Landscaping Improvements
Patio Shops-Temporary Parking Lot
A new parking lot at 1759 Glenview Rd at the southwest corner of Glenview Road and River Drive, which will create a 60-stall temporary downtown parking lot. Construction will be started upon the completion of the demolition of the Patio Shops buildings.
Tentative Schedule
Depot Street- Commuter Parking Lot
Start Date- Monday, August 4th
Approximate Completion Date- August 29th
The parking lot will be closed for approximately four weeks.
September 12, 2025 09/12/2025
The week of September 8th, the contractors have sodded the lot and installed the trees and landscaping. The next few weeks the contractors will be out watering the newly installed sod. This will be the last post for the Metra Lot improvements, the next post you will see will be for the new parking lot at the Patio Shops, later this year.

The week of September 8th, the contractors are looking to sod but there will be select spots blocked off to allow for access for watering. If you parked in the week we passed out a notice cars detailing the work this future work as well.

Downtown Parking Lot Improvements
The week of August 25th, the contractors have completed the parking lot and it will be opened to the public starting Tuesday September 2nd. The sod is scheduled to be installed early next week along with some periodic closing of certain spots for lighting installation, plantings and daily waterings. Be aware that if you park near newly landscaped areas your car may inadvertently get splashed by the watering truck.

The week of August 18th, the contractors plan on finishing the electrical, finished placing the stone base subgrade for the parking lot and will complete the concrete for sidewalks and the bike parking area. The plan for next week is to install the pavement and striping for the parking lot along with the lighting for the parking lot if able.

The week of August 11th, the contractors have completed the storm sewer installation, poured most of the proposed curb and have begun prepping the parking lot with stone in preparation of asphalt. The underground electric work for the streetlight was also completed this week. Next week the contractors plan on finishing the electrical, finish placing the stone base subgrade for the parking lot and will complete the concrete for sidewalks and the bike parking area.

During the week of August 4, 2025 the contractor began pavement and tree removal of the Depot and Grove commuter parking lot. They also be removed the pavement of the East side circular Kiss & Ride with these improvements. In the following weeks storm sewer, concrete curb and sidewalk will begin as apart of the parking lot expansion improvements, where we will be adding an additional 20 spaces. Tentatively the work is scheduled to last roughly 4 weeks, weather permitting.
Next Week August 11, the contractors will begin working on reinstalling the curb and gutter, the storm sewer improvements and the underground utilities for the parking lot. Weather permitting the contractors will then proceed to prepping the parking lot for paving.

Welcome to the project updates page for the Lincoln Street Roadway and Utility Improvement Project. Project updates will typically be posted on Fridays of each week. The contract was awarded to Pirtano Construction Company of Addison, IL
