The Village of Glenview Fire Department has 80 sworn members dedicated to the protection and well being of Village residents, visitors and businesses.

Department mission
The mission of the Department is to provide high quality suppression and emergency medical services in a fiscally responsible manner.
Services
Rescue and Suppression
Fire suppression and rescue services are provided 24 hours per day, seven days per week. In order to provide excellent fire suppression services, the department operates five apparatus responding from five stations located throughout the Village. Emergency Medical Services
The Fire Department provides emergency medical services to residents and businesses residing in the Village of Glenview and its unincorporated areas. The Department operates two paramedic ambulances 24 hours per day and one paramedic ambulance 12 hours per day, during peak hours from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. In addition, all front line fire suppression apparatus are equipped with paramedic equipment with a goal of delivering medical assistance within four to six minutes from the request of services. Public Education
The department is committed to educating the public on fire safety and prevention through a variety of life-safety programs and educational opportunities including, but not limited to, preschool, elementary and middle school education seminars; Boy Scout Merit Badge instruction; first aid, CPR and Heimlich Maneuver; and fire extinguisher (local business only) training. Career opportunities
Through a testing process, an eligibility list for the position of firefighter/paramedic is established every two years, and is advertised in local/regional newspapers, on multiple job search engines and on this website. To be eligible for testing, you must meet the following requirements by the application deadline:
- 21 years or older
- a U.S. Citizen
- a high school graduate (or GED equivalent
- vision correctable at 20/30
- pass a medical exam
- show proof of Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) completion
The final eligibility list is established after the written exam. Once the department determines a need for hire, a determined number of listed candidates will go through a background investigation and a polygraph test, and will be interviewed by the Board of Police and Fire Commissioners. If approved by the Board, the hiring candidate will go through a psychological and medical evaluation. New hires are on probation for one year.
